Taking care…

Do you tend to give, give, give …  so much that you often feel exhausted?

Have you ever tried to be someone you thought you were supposed to be in order to feel needed?

Have you ever thought that you’ve lost all sense of self in the process of caring for others?

Or… do you know who you are, live on purpose and enjoy being you?

It’s easy to fall into the trap of making yourself busy, taking care of others in order to give yourself a sense of importance.

When we constantly give, give, give to others, often we’re left with nothing for our self and no joy. We end up feeling resentful.

Even though we may feel trapped, it’s important to remember that we always have choice. We have the power to choose our thoughts, our words and actions. And our number one responsibility is to take care of our self.

There was a time when I felt like I was broken – trying to be what someone wanted me to be only to discover when it was all over that he didn’t like the new me, he wanted the old one. Somehow I managed to pick myself up and find the spirit within me which led me to want to help others to do the same.

Just as we take care of any precious gem, so we need to take care of our self – softly, gently – every aspect of ourself – externally, internally.

What do you choose – do you choose to sacrifice yourself, or take care of your self?
