How do you see yourself?

Freedom. We’re hearing lots of conversation around the world about the way our governments are addressing the Covid pandemic. Some see the measures taken as restricting individual freedom, others see them as being for the collective good and accept that we need to take care of our community, our nation. Where do you stand?

The topic of freedom is an interesting one. Some see it as being able to do what you want when you want. That is self indulgence, entitlement. Another way is to see freedom as feeling comfortable being who you really are, trusting, respecting, seeing yourself and others as equals, being at peace within.

The way you see yourself tells others a lot about who you are and how you expect to be treated. If you don’t see yourself as equal, if somewhere within you feel a victim of circumstances, you feel sorry for yourself, that’s when you can be critical and unkind to both your self and others. And that’s something we need to understand, then let go – the self-judgement and disappointment – in order to live in freedom.

What does it take for you to feel equal, to know that you have a purpose that matters? What do you need inside you to feel equal to others – no matter what your status?

You need to give yourself credit, to give yourself self-respect, to value yourself. To accept yourself, every single facet – say, this is who I am, and have faith in the beauty within.

Learning to respect and be at peace with yourself gives you the courage to become more of who you are… and to think of everyone.
