Blue – the sky, the ocean and bluebells

Blue – the colour of the sky and the ocean, open, expansive, a colour that brings a sense of calmness and serenity, and a traditional colour that has a feeling of trust, reliability, security. Blue suits. Police uniforms. Masculinity.

Sometimes associated with a feeling of space, of peace and calm; other times with sensitivity, sadness and ‘the blues’. And the energy can be intense, electric – exciting, thrilling!

Some cultures see blue as being a colour that brings protection and healing; in China, it’s associated with the element of wood, with the east and spring. It reminds me of bluebell woods in Scotland where as a child I imagined the fairies lived, bluebells which come in so many different shades, still one of my favourite flowers.

At one end of the spectrum, it can be cold and aloof, a bit rigid, separate;  at the other, faithful and true.

How is it for you?
