Taking care – of self

Most of us know it’s a good idea to take care of ourselves, and it’s particularly important if we want to take care of or be of service to others. The question is how well do we take care of ourself… physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually?

  • What can stop us from nurturing and supporting our self?
  • What can limit or impede us when it comes to living our potential?

What I’ve seen is that what limits us most is fear. Fear of not being liked or supported by others, fear of getting it wrong, fear of not being good enough, fear of being judged….fear, fear, fear.

Fear is not rational, it’s an innate response. It can be based on hidden mind-sets or beliefs, and it is tricky to reason yourself out of it.

Fear holds us back, it keeps us small. It can cause us to sacrifice our self, play the victim, feel resentful. Its function is to keep us safe; however in doing this it keeps us from being our best. Fear creates fear, energy creates energy, so every time we focus on our fear we feed it!

It’s good to become aware of our fears for when we do we can change how we respond by learning to do things differently. We can make conscious choices from a place of love, not fear,  choose to respect and empower our self.

When we align with who we are, we live with no conditions, no limitations.

What do you choose – love or fear?
