All together as one

When you look at the entire world being in lockdown, everyone at home, isolating, isn’t it amazing that such a situation could have been created?

Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the virus, to those who are sick, those grieving the loss of loved ones, those suffering financial hardship, and, to all the essential services whose role is the protection and wellbeing of human life, who give so selflessly.

Seeing that we’re all in the same boat and are being asked to act together, to co-operate for the good of everyone in our communities, what might be the gift?

Perhaps it’s time to let go of the idea that we are separate and work for a common purpose? To find a sense of collective responsibility, put aside our differences and respect one another – accept we are all different, we are equal, and see the divine in one another? To respect our planet, look at how we use our resources.

Perhaps it’s time to break down the areas of selfishness within us that keep us separate, to let go of any entitlement that has us think the rules don’t apply to me and I can go out if I want to, I don’t need to stay at home? To let go of ‘my will” and focus on ‘goodwill’. To change any habit of criticism. To heal as Mother Earth is healing while we stay at home.

One thing that kills separateness is compassion. What does compassion mean to you; and how can you develop and practise it? What is one action you can take?
